Architect
Kevin Cohen Design is a Los Angeles design-build practice — architecture, interior and exterior design, and general construction handled together under one process. From a single room to a whole house, ground-up design to permits and build, the work carries from the first drawing to the final inspection with one team accountable throughout.
Accessory dwelling units — detached, attached, garage conversion, or junior — from feasibility and layout through permit drawings and construction, handled as one design-build process.
Room additions, second stories, and expansions designed to read as part of the house they join — carried through structural coordination, permits, and build.
Reworking layout, light, and flow across an entire house so it feels larger and calmer — designed as one composition and built as one coordinated project.
The rooms where a few inches decide everything. Layout, light, and materials resolved in design before anything is ordered, then carried through construction.
Permit-ready drawings prepared to the standard a plan checker expects, and the review worked through to approval — so a project clears the counter rather than stalling at it.
Architecture, design, and general construction coordinated under one process, with a single point of accountability from the first drawing to the last inspection.
Keeping scope, schedule, budget, and trades aligned from design through completion — alongside a full engagement or as an owner's representative.
Residential and hillside architectural design, and a disciplined second eye on proportion, materials, and spatial planning. Hillside work earned an Outstanding Directed Design Research Award for the project “Hillside Los Angeles.”
Based in Los Angeles and born and raised in the city, Kevin Cohen Design works with homeowners across Southern California and into the Central Valley — most of the work handled remotely, with on-site visits scheduled as a project needs them. Each area has its own dedicated page covering local jurisdictions and considerations:
Alongside custom design-build, Kevin Cohen Design is preparing a collection of ready-made (pre-designed) plan sets — complete home and ADU plans you will be able to buy for a set price, rather than commissioning a full custom design. It is a faster, cost-clear route for standard lots and common project types. The collection is being finalized now.
