Kevin Cohen
Kevin Cohen is a Los Angeles–based architect and consultant known for spaces defined by clarity, restraint, and quiet sophistication — an approach rooted in proportion, detail, and atmosphere.
Kevin approaches design as a careful composition, balancing beauty and function to create spaces that feel effortless, elevated, and enduring. His process is grounded in precision, collaboration, and timeless design, deeply influenced by Los Angeles's distinctive landscape, light, and hillside terrain.
Background & education
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kevin holds a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. That path — from the logic of the sciences to the composition of space — shapes a practice that treats design as something to be reasoned through as much as felt.
Recognition
Kevin received the Outstanding Directed Design Research Award for the project “Hillside Los Angeles,” a study of how slope, light, and restraint can be turned from constraints into the defining idea of a home.
The work
The practice centres on residential and hillside architecture across Los Angeles, alongside design consulting for homeowners, builders, and designers. Whether a full commission or a focused second opinion, the aim is the same: rooms that feel calm and inevitable, and that still feel right long after the fashions around their making have gone quiet.
